Support Assistant for a Blind Individual 

Job Title: Part-Time Support Assistant

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Hours: 9.5 hours per week Schedule: Tuesday: 3 hours Wednesday: 3 hours Saturday: 3 hours Possibly 0.5 hours on Sunday 

Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to assist a blind person with daily living activities. This role does not involve personal care but focuses on providing support around the home, including cooking, cleaning, and helping with day-to-day tasks.

Key Responsibilities: 

Assist with daily tasks: cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a tidy environment.

Accompany to appointments, social meetings, and other outings.

Help with gardening and light outdoor tasks.

Ensure surroundings are safe and accessible.

Check that food is in date and safe to eat.

Support with shopping trips.

Ensure the client looks presentable before heading outside.

Help around the home, including bed-making and reading letters.

Proactively think ahead to assist with needs.

Cover shifts during holidays or sickness.

Requirements:

Must have a car and a valid driving license. 

Strong attention to detail.

Common sense, initiative, and the ability to work independently.

Reliable, trustworthy, and able to speak up when something is wrong.

Friendly, with a good sense of humour, and able to build rapport.

Desirable Qualities:

Conscientious, dependable, organised and eager to help.

A good eye for detail, ensuring the individual is presentable for outings.

Ability to assist with light household tasks and shopping.
