National Payroll Week 2022!

Another year at Solo Support Services and another year of change. We remain as ever focused and dedicated to providing the best service we can.

Solo Support Services continues to evolve and grow and we are delighted to be able to support so many individuals to remain in their own home with the support of a team of hand selected Personal Assistants.

Payroll is relentless and my team are positive, conscientious and supportive of each other. In the busiest of weeks, we all pull together to get people paid. We have in excess of 350 payrolls per month. These are all individually run payrolls, paid on all different days of the month with any number of employees from 1 to 20 depending on the size of the support package.

I am now in my 9th year here at Solo and have seen the company grow beyond recognition. My team has grown from one employee to six!

We will be welcoming another new Payroll Assistant in a couple of weeks but this year I would like to focus on Rafailia who joined Solo in January 2022. I am in particular awe of Rafailia as not only has she taken to the job brilliantly, she is doing it in her second language!!

Here is Raf’s story 😊

Hello all! I am Rafailia and I am from Greece. The last 3 years I have been living in Nottingham. I always wanted to live abroad because I had the curiosity to meet and interact with other cultures and nationalities. As soon as I found the opportunity, I booked an one-way ticket to East Midlands Airport and here I am.

I wanted to do payroll since I finished with my studies back in Greece. I started to apply for payroll jobs since I first arrived in the country and in January 2022, I finally achieved my goal. I had my interview with Solo and it was a big success. All my hopes and dreams eventually were fulfilled.

I enjoy doing this job because I like numbers and the logic behind calculations. When an employee receives their payslip it’s their efforts are being rewarded and I like to be part of this satisfaction. But more specifically I like working for Solo because I admire the cause of the company which is to help people live independently.

I recently completed the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) training and I already feel more knowledgeable and confident in what I do. My ambition for the future is to strengthen my leadership skills and broaden my payroll knowledge so I can take on more responsibilities.
