Mental Health Awareness Week - 15th to 21st May 2023

Everyone has 'mental health', just as we all have 'physical health'. And like our physical health, there are times when our mental health is better than others.

This year's theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is Anxiety. Anxiety is a normal emotion in us all, but sometimes it can get out of control and become a mental health problem. Lots of things can lead to feelings of anxiety, including relationships, starting a new job (or losing one) or other big life events. We can also get anxious when it comes to things to do with money and not being able to meet our basic needs, like heating our home or buying food. But anxiety can be made easier to manage.

1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England

1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week in England.

Anyone can get a mental health problem, this is nothing to be ashamed of and there are various ways in receiving the support needed.

"Mental Health problems don't define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but you are not the rain." - Matt Haig
